Naloxone in Action: Life-Saving Strategies for Opioid Overdose Prevention

This course provides participants with the knowledge and confidence to understand overdose trends, recognize the signs of opioid overdose, and apply practical guidance on using naloxone in real-world situations. By mastering essential skills and exploring supportive resources, you’ll be better equipped to assess and respond to overdoses and provide meaningful help to individuals living with opioid use disorder.

 

Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss and review overdose rates in the United States.
  2. Define opioids and differentiate among various types of opioids.
  3. Define naloxone, discuss the different available formulations, and describe its utilization in drug overdose.
  4. Identify additional supportive resources for patients navigating opioid use disorder and needing naloxone.
Continuing Education Credits This activity is approved for (1) continuing education credits for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC). Other healthcare professionals are welcome to participate and will receive a certificate of attendance; however, continuing education credit is only available for CHES/MCHES®. Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon completion of the course evaluation. A minimum passing grade of 80% or higher is required on the post-test.
